The 44 foot Van de Stadt "MADEIRA” is a high quality ocean going steel yacht that skilfully combines safety, speed, sailing ability and comfort. Her internal layout is finished luxuriously in high quality American cherry and holly joinery with new blue and white upholstery. Space abounds below with four private sleeping cabins, two heads, a great saloon and a well appointed galley. Above decks she has a large deep secure cockpit and smart new Midnight Blue topsides.
Built to very high standards and owned by two Royal yacht club Commodores and a Vice Commodore, she is a proven “go anywhere” gentleman’s world cruising yacht. Her hull was finished by Morvoren Seacraft in Penryn and her interior is by respected local award winning master shipwright David Walkey of Gweek Quay. As a consequence she is a much admired and well-known yacht in Falmouth. In her current ownership she has since undergone a comprehensive and thoughtful re-fit and upgrade programme, including re-painting and re-rigging as well as many blue water upgrades in recent years.
With her superb layout down below, she would make an excellent family cruiser or ARC boat and would be equally capable exploring higher or lower latitudes.
All lines are led aft to the cockpit and her current owners have found her to be a fast passage maker, easy to sail two handed in all manner of conditions.

OWNERS COMMENTS:
Jacaranda has just (2016) been professionally repainted in Awlgrip, Midnight Blue for the topsides, Matterhorn White for the coachroof and cockpit, with Cordovan Gold boot tops and cove stripes. The hull has been blasted (SA 2 and a half), and painted with a 9 layer epoxy system, topped with airless sprayed Hempel self-polishing antifouling.
The teak decks have been recaulked.
The fuel and water tanks have been repainted internally.
The boat is looking great, but more importantly, her steel is well protected with new paint systems and always has been, she was painted well at birth, then again professionally in 2006. She should be good for at least another ten years now.
The new solar panels, MPPT controller and deep cycle AGM battery bank have kept the boat electrically self sufficient for an entire year, including running Nespresso machines, kettles, toasters, rice cookers (not included in sale!) via the inverter, and all the boat’s 12V fridge, “house”, navigation, and entertainment needs.
Jacaranda is a solid ocean-going yacht - we have sailed her with just the two of us in all kinds of conditions, safely and easily with all controls led to the cockpit. She is an excellent and fast passage maker.
Unusually for a steel yacht - no-one looking at the hull believes it is steel - Jacaranda is an elegant (built for and owned by two Royal yacht club Commodores and a Vice Commodore, kept in the Mediterranean as “gentleman’s cruising yacht” for some years) and a very comfortable home to live in and explore the oceans from. You’ll love her, we have.
